Tafes is blind. A blind mason cannot do his job, and this is how Tafes lost everything. “An infection caused me to go blind 4 years ago. I could not finish building our house. My son now has to go to work for me instead of attending school”, he explained. Relatives help poor farmers, even though they themselves barely have enough to survive. But Tafes can be healed. It is too late for treatment through just medication, but through a minimally invasive procedure, he can regain his eyesight - and the village will regain its mason.

Desita was found during a visit to a village by Menschen für Menschen workers and was immediately brought to the next hospital. Diseases that are not life threatening in Germany can be very deadly in Ethiopia. Not only is the country missing skilled doctors, medications and hospitals, but also most people do not know that they could receive help. Of the people who are aware, most cannot afford transportation or treatment. Menschen für Menschen is working to create a better health care system in Ethiopia.
“Most diseases here in Ethiopia can be treated, but we are missing the means. Therefore, I implore you to donate to Menschen für Menschen. I do it, too.”
