The German Central Institute for Social Matters (DZI) in Berlin is an independent, publicly sponsored scientific documentation centre which examines humanitarian and charitable organisations on request.
If a relief organisation conforms to the institute’s strict standards it is eligible for the DZI donation seal. The purpose of this seal is to achieve greater transparency and serve as a guideline for donors.
Since the introduction of this seal Menschen für Menschen has been one of the organisations that have their fund allocation, public relations and administrative work audited by the DZI on a voluntary basis. Particular attention is given to the verifiable, effective and economical use of funds in accordance with the statutes, correct accounting and low administrative and fund-raising costs. Menschen für Menschen has been awarded the seal every year since 1992.
