WORLD IN BALANCE has been a worldwide symbol of Dr. Philipp Daniel Merckle, Chief Executive of ratiopharm, since the autumn of 2006. Over time a number of projects and solutions for social problems are to be initiated under this leitmotif with the participation of the local population.

The first partner of WORLD IN BALANCE was Karlheinz Böhm’s Ethiopia Aid. Two new project regions at Asagirt / Central Ethiopia and Borecha / Western Ethiopia are being funded by Dr. Philipp Daniel Merckle. Menschen für Menschen will be launching two new integrated rural development projects for more than 120,000 inhabitants. Schools, medical centres and wells are to be built with the aim of improving the living conditions of the population. Structural improvements are also being carried out in agriculture and programmes initiated to strengthen the position of women. As with all projects, Menschen für Menschen carries out the planning together with the population according to the principle of “support for self-development”.
