The Fürth-based mail order company “Quelle” has been supporting Menschen für Menschen for many  years. The former Chief Executive Grete Schickedanz was one of the first to sponsor Menschen für Menschen in its early days. “Right at the start,” Karlheinz Böhm remembers, “she gave us a complete office in Munich – simply because she was so convinced by our idea. I will never forget what this woman did for us.”

On the occasion of its 75-year anniversary the mail order company once again proved its high degree of social commitment and constructed 75 wells in Ethiopia. For hundred thousands of people that meant hygienic water for the first time – close to their villages and not requiring hikes of many hours. However, the true value of this aid cannot be appreciated until one sees the unbelievable joy on the faces of the people. “It’s like paradise,” said an old woman at the inauguration of a newly constructed well.
