HANDS for children is a charitable project of the IKA Works with the objective of helping needy children and supporting them in their development. In this project, experienced professionals in retirement form the core of the team that develops and builds laboratory equipment. By joint resolution of the employees of HANDS for children, the entire generated profits go to needy children.

Between 2002 and 2004 the HANDS for children project supported a new Menschen für Menschen school building in eastern Ethiopia. The new school, in the Babile region, was built, furnished and fitted out, together with accommodation for the teaching staff. With an average literacy rate of 40% among men and 27% among women this contribution by the IKA Works cannot be rated highly enough. After all, the education and training of young people is the key to solving many problems in Ethiopia.
